Charlamagne tha God is an American radio host and television personality. He’s best known for co-hosting the radio show ‘The Breakfast Club’ alongside DJ Envy and Angela Yee. His television credits include Uncommon Sense, Guy Code, Girl Code, and Wild ‘N Out. Charlamagne was born Lenard McKelvey on June 29, 1980. He was raised in the small town of Moncks Corner, South Carolina. His father is Larry Thomas McKelvey. He has a sister, Alesha Renee, who’s an actress.

CAREER
Charlamagne tha God kicked off his radio career as an intern at a local radio station in South Carolina. He met media personality Wendy Williams in 2005. She brought him to New Jersey and the two worked on ‘The Wendy Williams Experience’ on 107.5 WBLS. A short-lived televised version of the show ran on VH1 from October to December 2006. The two parted ways in 2008. Charlamagne is probably best known for co-hosting ‘The Breakfast Club’ along with DJ Envy and Angela Yee. The radio show premiered in December 2010 on Power 105.1 (WWPR-FM). It was rolled out into syndication in 2013. Starting in March 20104, The Breakfast Club has been simulcast on REVOLT.

Charlamagne is a cast member on the MTV2 reality comedy series, Guy Code. The program talks about the special code of conduct that exists between men. Five seasons have been completed from 2011 to 2015. In 2013, Charlamagne hosted ‘The Week in Jams’ alongside DJ Envy and Sofi Green. He co-hosted MTV New Year’s life from Times Square in 2013 and 2014. He served as a correspondent for the 2015 MTV Video Music Award pre-show. Charlamagne made a cameo appearance in Ride Along (2014) starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart. He was cast as “Black Jesus” in the comedy film, Grow House (2017). His television credits include Catfish: The TV Show, Empire, and Wild ‘N Out with Nick Cannon. He currently hosts the MTV2 show ‘Uncommon Sense’ and narrates the BET show ‘Inside the Label’.

Charlamagne’s debut album, South Crack, was released by Lightyear Entertainment in August 2008. His first book ‘Black Privilege’ was published by Simon & Schuster in 2017. The book became a New York Times best-selling hardback non-fiction. He also has his own production company, CThaGod World LLC.

Charlamagne tha God is 5ft 6in tall and he’s of African-American ancestry. His net worth is estimated at $10 million. He reportedly married longtime girlfriend ‘Jessica Gadsden’ in September 2014. They have two daughters. Jessica has a BA degree from the University of Southern Carolina, and an MBA from Webster University. She works as a personal trainer and fitness instructor.
