Tracey Edmonds said on Instagram on Sunday night that her engagement with Deion Sanders ended so she could 'prioritize myself' - before deleting the statement.

It emerged last week that Sanders, who was named Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the year' and actress Edmonds, who had been engaged since 2019, had called it a day.

At the time Edmonds, 56, said that they were moving forward as friends and thanked people for wishing them well.

She added more detail on Sunday, as per PEOPLE, saying: 'I want to clarify that it was my decision to end the relationship, despite any different narratives being presented.

'I’ve chosen to prioritize myself and my family, moving forward towards a future where I am valued, treated with honesty, and free to embrace the happiness and respect I deserve.'

She also said in the caption she 'hates to have to respond to the media, but sometimes it’s necessary when the falsehoods get out of control!'.

There was no explanation as to why she later removed the post.

Edmonds and Sanders met in 2012 at a movie premiere for a film Edmonds had produced.

Sanders is said to have been so taken with Edmonds that he asked a friend for her number and arranged a meeting to pitch a reality series, Deion's Family Playbook, but it swiftly developed into something more than a working partnership.

Last week, Edmonds and Sanders wrote in a joint statement about their relationship: 'To EVERYONE who has been there for us, supported us, and shown us love.

'We have mutually decided that it is best for us to move forward in life AS FRIENDS and have made this decision with love in our hearts, respect for each other, and appreciation for the time we've shared together.'

'Please keep us in your prayers as we go through this transition. Thank you for being there for us ALL THESE YEARS! We love you and appreciate you SO MUCH!' she added with a praying hands and a red heart emoji.

Coach Prime responded in the comments section, writing: 'Love u Tracey and You've been a true blessing to me. I appreciate the times we've shared and they laughs we've had.
