Vijay Sai Reddy, who was the chartered accountant for YS Rajasekhar Reddy and subsequently to YS Jaganmohan Reddy, has a three-decade long association with YS family. This made him close to Jagan Reddy as well. Jagan started YSRCP in March 2011. However, Jagan was arrested by the CBI in 2012 on the embezzlement charges. The CBI court sent Jagan to jail.
Vijay Sai Reddy had accompanied YS Jagan during his 16-month long jail term in quid pro quo and disproportionate assets case. This made him even closer to Jagan and thus made him next to Jagan in the party.
Sai Reddy was nominated to Rajya Sabha in 2016. When the party was in the opposition, Sai Reddy became the party’s mouthpiece. He made good lobbying in Delhi and garnered good contacts among national parties, especially with the BJP.
However, all this is past. Sai Reddy’s glory in YSRCP has passed. He is no longer a strong pillar in the party. The emergence of Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy in the party and his subsequent rise was indeed a threat to Sai Reddy’s position. Sajjala was made the Advisor (Public Affairs) to CM Jagan Reddy. Slowly, Sajjala began impressing Jagan and made him stronger in state administration as well as party. During then, Sai Reddy was confined to Visakhapatnam and Delhi.
Then came out severe allegations of corruption and land kabzas in Vizag emerged against Sai Reddy and family. Sai Reddy’s daughter and son-in-law’s firm Avyaan Realtors LLP getting involved in Daspalla land row has also affected him politically. If these are not enough, recently his son-in-law Rohit Reddy’s brother Sharath Chandra Reddy (wholesome director in Aurobindo Pharma) is arrested in Delhi in connection with the Delhi liquor scam. TDP and Janasena has targeted him politically. All these have made him weaker in the party with each passing day.
Although he is still holding the position of National General Secretary of the party, unofficially, his dominance over the party has reduced. He is reportedly not part of the decisions of the government and is not able to influence Jagan Reddy in his decisions. All these adding fuel to the ongoing political rumours that he might be on the verge of losing his Rank 2 in YSRCP.
Vijay Sai Reddy has been replaced by YV Subba Reddy as the party’s Uttarandhra incharge owing to the pressure from the local leaders in the region. It’s a setback to Sai Reddy within the party. Sai Reddy is now handling the affairs of Delhi.
In this backdrop, ‘frustrated’ Sai Reddy seems to be putting out some tweets using derogatory language on TDP. But in turn, they’re only doing more damage to him. Even YSRCP’s own leaders are said to be upset with Sai Reddy and distancing from him. This is the fall of Sai Reddy in YSRCP.
