Cedric Mullins struggled for a second consecutive seasons to match the production from his breakout season in 2021. 2023 saw him struggle at the plate around two different stints on the injured list with groin strains that clearly had an impact on his efforts at the plate. Despite the injuries, Mullins was voluming at a 2022 pace but not being 100% certainly impacted his strikeouts at the plate which pulled his batting average down once again. Mullins has now seen his average fall nearly 60 points over the past two seasons and much of the red ink which once proliferated his StatCast profile has turned into a cool blue hue. 2023 saw Mullins lean into a pull-heavy flyball approach which helped him pace ahead of 2022's power numbers but he literally limped to a .205/.249/.374 triple-slash line from August 1st to the end of the season. A healthy Mullins can still volume his way fantasy value, but 2021 was the dream while a blend of the past two seasons is closer to reality.Fantasy Stats

Mullins went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Blue Jays. Mullins has hit safely in four straight games for the first time since mid-June. The outfielder started July poorly but is now hitting .237 (14-for-59) over 22 games this month. He's holding onto a starting job in center field, but it's a loose grip after the Orioles traded for Eloy Jimenez, Cristian Pache and Austin Slater over the last few days. Slater would be a natural platoon partner for Mullins, but it's possible Colton Cowser moves over from left field on a more regular basis if Mullins slumps at any point down the stretch. For the year, Mullins is slashing .221/.271/.396 with 11 home runs, 38 RBI, 44 runs scored and 18 thefts through 98 contests.

Mullins did all of the damage for the Orioles, driving in two on a double in the seventh inning and launching a two-run homer in the ninth. The outfielder has started five of eight games since the All-Star break but has five hits and two long balls in those contests. On the season, he is batting .217 with 11 home runs, 36 RBI, 42 runs scored and 17 steals across 311 plate appearances.
