An Ada County Sheriff's Deputy who was serious injured during an altercation with a suspect on the I-84 remains hospitalized.

The deputy has reportedly undergone multiple surgeries and continues to recover according to the Ada County Sheriff's Office.

The deputy and other officers responded early in the morning to a call for what appeared to be a pedestrian, or multiple pedestrians, walking down the eastbound I-84 causing multiple vehicles to swerve suddenly to avoid hitting him in the pre-dawn hours. As officers arrived they found a man walking his bicycle, who was unresponsive to officers commands to stop and get out of the roadway.

The deputy approached the man and grabbed his backpack in an attempt to stop him. The man then turned and attacked the deputy, stabbing him multiple times in the altercation. Other officers who also responded fired on and ultimately killed the man who attacked the deputy, after life-saving measures were unsuccessful.
